School Preparation

I realized that Elizabeth has never tried to eat her lunch in 20 minutes or open all her containers herself, which are skills that she'll obviously need come kindergarten. So I packed her a school lunch and sent her out to the front steps with a timer. If she finished before the timer went off, I'd come outside and have recess with her.

I have never seen this girl chow down so fast.
After recess (it's really hard to play tag while hauling a baby along), Elizabeth wanted to keep playing school. So I declared it was reading time, and told her to sit in a chair and read a book to herself. I could get used to this idea! When she was done, she asked what to do next. I decided it was writing time, and set her at the table with a writing task. I ran out of ideas after math time (fun with money), but I think this a game we could both really benefit from!
