I just finished re-reading
A Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton Porter. Published in 1909, it embodies a good, clean, moral novel - where the heroine reveals her goodness in every action and the antagonist shows how uncaring her heart really is (until she gets inspired by the heroine's goodness and changes at the end!). If you liked
Anne of Green Gables or
The Secret Garden, this childhood classic is definitely worth a try!
