Getting Better!

Now that I've crossed the line from enduring running to being somewhat successful at it, I'm loving it. I feel so proud whenever I run, and it even feels good just to walk around with the knowledge that I can do it. Ten-minute miles are a nice pace for me at this point. Yesterday I did 2.5 miles in 24 minutes. I don't even feel the need to rest any more. It's exciting because the learning curve is steep enough that I can set new self-records every time I run. The annoying part now is that I can't run every day because my shin splints need some time to recover. It kills me!

I wonder if that line between enduring and enjoying is just set farther out for some people... Matt ran a lot in high school and said he never enjoyed it. Hearing that doesn't really help to motivate me, but hearing your excitement does make me want to try.

that's so awesome. I used to hate running when I played soccer, I just wanted to play. But they made us run 1/2 mile warm-ups. then at Purdue I started running in the winters because I wasn't very active during spring semester (no marching band). After a few weeks it just felt good, you didn't really feel tired. Maybe after my surgery I'll join you and start running again!! yay for being active.
