Fall Fun (Corn Maze Review)

My godparents took us to the Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze today. It's a corn maze on the border of Brooklyn Park and Champlin, just off 169. Most of you know how rarely we pay for fun, but I gladly say this is worth the $9/person (over 36 inches) admission price. I cannot recommend it enough!

First we found the straw bale maze - perfect for running through, then climbing on top and leaping from bale to bale. The girls could have spent all day there. Isaac decorously waited about 3 minutes before jumping up and chasing after the girls himself. Note to parents: this is pretty self-contained, so it's safe to sit at the side with your coffee and watch your kids exhaust themselves.

Next we entered the corn maze itself. I have never been to one, and it was a blast. This one is enormous and in the shape of a very complicated baseball diamond. As you walk around, you can try to find 22 different checkpoints that have MN Twins trivia questions on them. Or you can simply run through the corn and try to keep both children in sight. It's up to you. Both options are fun, depending how regimented you want to be. Note: I forgot to take any pictures during this part.

Upon exiting the corn maze, we went into the petting zoo. They had lots of goats, sheep, chickens, ducks and geese, llamas, and calves. You can brush the animals, pet them, or buy food to feed them.
After the petting zoo, my godparents treated the girls to pony rides. They were pretty thrilled. Amelie decided to name her pony Upsy.

Then we came to the best thing in the world: a corn pit! It's a huge deep pit filled with dry corn kernels - like a ball pit, except way more fun. Just walking and running in it felt amazing. We soon discovered that jumping, throwing, dropping children straight down from a height, and burying ourselves was even more fun. Then we progressed to somersaults, cartwheels, and general tackling and silliness. Oh, my goodness - we definitely could have stayed in there all day! That alone was worth the admission, in my opinion. Plus, it's a photographer's dream.

The straw bale maze, corn maze, petting zoo, and corn pit were all included in the admission price, as was a playground that we didn't even get to. In addition, you could pay extra for helicopter rides, assorted bouncy houses, a huge slide, concessions, and various other activities. Here's the website if you want to go yourself: http://www.twincitiesmaze.com/attractions.html.

Again, I think everyone should go. Have fun!
