Quite a Show

Ellie cornered Isaac and me the other day and convinced us to attend a "show" she was putting on. I was excited about it, because I thought it would be a singing or dancing show. I was wrong. It was a boss-your-parents-around-and-revel-in-their-full-attention show, complete with costume changes, audience participation, and assigned seats that frequently moved (no just leaning back and watching allowed).

It mostly involved doing whatever Ellie thought of to do, which included talking on the phone to each other, singing "Angels We Have Heard on High" out of books, "wagging" things she put in our hands, exchanging costume jewelry, and getting into small groups to pray.

At one point, Isaac and I were so bored while sitting in our assigned seats waiting for a costume change that we started using our shiny necklaces as CB radios. "Headquarters, come in," Isaac intoned. "I'm calling in a 34-63B... That's right... A power-hungry three-year-old, out of control. We're going to need back-up." We were incredibly grateful for bedtime.
