Great Deals Ahead!

Lately I've been using my computer more for couponing than for blogging. I've always cut out coupons and used them, although not so much since I discovered that Aldi without a coupon is usually cheaper than anywhere else with one! But my friends Randi and Jen gave me a fantastic tutorial (complete with handout!) about how to use coupons and the great deals that they regularly get, and I decided to give it a try.

Their best hint for me was to save the inserts from the Sunday paper (i.e. Red Plum, SmartSource, P&G) and label them by date. Then go to Carrie Rocha's website, Pocket Your Dollars, and do what she says! She organizes shopping lists by store (Cub, Rainbow, Target, etc.) and matches their sales and best deals with coupons and links to internet coupons. It takes some planning with the computer, and trips to the store a little more often than I would normally go, but that's it.

In the last few weeks, I have gotten many, many brand-name items completely for free, including a 4-and 5-blade razors, toothpaste, yogurt multi-packs, oats, Campbell's soup, granola bars, cleaning products, baby shampoo, Lunchables, and more. I've gotten many more items for a fraction of the cost. It was a pretty big high when I came home from Rainbow yesterday with $75 worth of groceries and only paid $35. The lady in the checkout line behind me even complimented me!
