Elizabeth's Big Race

Yesterday was Elizabeth's big one-mile race for her running club at school. She had a great time, and beat her personal best in the mile by over a minute, coming in at 9:53. That put her in 49th place overall out of 116 runners, and in 9th place among the 1st graders - she was the only kindergartner. She was the 14th girl of any age to cross the finish line. We are so proud!

Elizabeth at the starting line: she began in the far back, about the fifth kid from the right side of the picture (you can only see the back of her head).Moving her way up toward the front and keeping up with all the big kidsHolding her own on the second and final lapPutting on the speed on the approach to the finishAwarded with a T-shirt, water, and cereal We talked about our favorite parts to the running club and race: community, being cheered for, trying hard, etc. Elizabeth's favorite part? "The running part." That's our girl!
