We Got a Cat!

We spent Mother's Day with my in-laws and they sent us back home with their 6-year-old cat, Misty, due to Isaac's sister's allergies. We are "trying her out" for a few weeks to see what it would be like to have a pet. She is such a nice cat, very calm and social. She lets Elizabeth haul her all around the house and Amelie chase her.

I'm discovering that it's very hard to take a good picture of a cat!

Did you know that you can read to a cat?

Poor Misty was terrified when she arrived at our house after a close to 2-hour car ride and took a while to adjust. She went down and hid in our basement. At one point, Isaac and I couldn't find her and spent two hours searching frantically for her! To our relief, she finally came out on her own and we never discovered where she had been.
Now she is busy discovering which windows are best for watching and which spots are most comfortable for sleeping. My lap is a big winner. I even picked her up for the first time in my life! I think we're going to be very happy with Misty. She's even won over my mother, which was a big worry for me!
(Sssh. My in-laws are going to give her to Elizabeth for her birthday, but she still thinks we're just "cat-sitting!") We have a cat!

So I read your more recent "cat" post first and asked whether this was a permanent addition. Guess this answers my question! Oh boy, am I surprised! I never thought you would be interested in having a cat long-term. She sounds a lot like our Mattie... social, low-maintenance... fun times!
