Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!

Isaac's grandma sent me the words to this song (author unknown) because it describes VanLoon babies so well! May my many expecting friends not experience this!

Mine ears have heard the screaming of the one that we adore;
She is whining with a piercing force that cannot be ignored.
She hath loosed the frightful power of her mighty vocal cords;
Her cry is carrying on.

I have seen her fists a-flailing like a great world boxing champ.
I have fed her little belly and know her diaper is not damp.
I have quieted the TV and turned off the only lamp,
But still she carries on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! She's finally asleep.

I have heard my angry infant usher forth an awful squeal -
It often makes me wonder what is the big ordeal?
But the fervor of her screaming is bellowed out with zeal,
Since she is crying on.

She has sounded forth her wailing and has not called retreat.
For three grueling hours she has not missed a beat.
Oh, be swift, oh swing, to calm her! Silence her powerful bleat,
Our babe is screaming on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! She's finally asleep.

She is a little beauty and I'm sure you will agree.
With a glory in her smile that transfigures you and me:
Her silence it is golden and has filled me full with glee;
While she is swinging on.

Sleep is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave,
Those who have endured her screaming we shall count among the brave;
But given how I love her, my heart to her will cave,
Even if she did scream on.
