I'm Back!

Florida was wonderful. My grandparents are doing well and it was fantastic to get so much time with them. We played cards, talked, listened to a piano concert downstairs, went to church, and volunteered at Grandma's regular place, a Care Club for people with Alzheimers. That might have been the highlight of my visit! About 30 older people were sitting in recliners in a huge circle waiting for Grandma to get there. They lit up when they saw her. She played the piano while the staff, the "clients," and I sang enthusiastically and danced around the room. Their favorite was the "Hokey Pokey."

Florida heat and humidity puts even our last hot streak to shame - running there seems entirely different from running here! I faithfully attempted runs, but achieved very little distance or endurance! The last two mornings I woke up early and went to the beach. Aaah! I think I may have been created especially for the beach. Or was that to bring God glory? Maybe they're one and the same!

Unfortunately, the visit was far too short and I had to return to normal Minnesota life. Isaac had done a wonderful job with the girls, hitting the zoo, several playgrounds, a couple of bike trails, and his parents' house. It was great to be gone, but of course it was great to see my family again - especially my handsome, 30-year-old husband!
