Elizabeth wanted to make dinner for our family. It was a huge, secretive deal, involving lots of planning, much discussion, and a very long time in the kitchen by herself. She wouldn't tell us any of her ideas, preferring to completely surprise us. She promised it would be healthy so I wouldn't have to worry.
We were surprised. And hungry.
Finally, the moment arrived. We sat down at the table and Elizabeth proudly brought out four small dessert plates. Each contained 1 flour tortilla (cut into quarters and arranged beautifully), 3 green olives, 1 raw green bean cut into very small bites, 1 baby carrot also cut into very small bites, 5 flakes of shredded cheddar, and a handful of Craisins.
It was kind of hard to suppress our laughter as we ate our make-your-own mini-tortillas.
We made popcorn as a "special treat" afterwards. We had to. We were still starving!
