Ellie is officially "Elizabeth" at her preschool; no one even knows her as "Ellie." I'm adjusting pretty well to that, and she's even learned to write "Elizabeth" on her papers. She loves it and wants to go every day.
I eat up all the little details she feeds me. I love to hear it all, even the stuff as mundane as stopping at the black line when the class walks to the bathroom. She tells me the songs they sang and the books they read and what they ate for snack each day. She says she's made 4 girl friends and 1 boy friend, but so far she only knows 3 of their names! Today when I dropped her off, one of her little friends ran up and hugged her.
Every time I go to the school I become more convinced that we made the right choice. For example, we left her stuffed bear at school one night, and the next day when I picked it up, two teachers that weren't even hers stopped me to tell me how relieved they were that the bear was claimed and how they worried someone was really missing it.
Ellie loves her teachers, and especially the outside playground and the book loft in her classroom. On Wednesday, she took home "homework" and was thrilled about it. She did it the instant we walked through our door and proudly carried it back to school today. I love walking her to school and back, and hearing her chat on the way. That's a really special time for me, especially as it seems she's growing up so fast. I want to savor these little moments we get together, and the time that she wants to spend with me. She still likes to hold hands as we walk, and I hope that lasts a lot longer!
