Insulting Billboard

On a billboard for Wedding Day Jewelers:

"You may pay forever. Just not for the ring."

What message is that sending about marriage?

that reminds of the day before our wedding when Abe went in to get his hair cut. He told the guy he was getting married and the hair stylist was like why would you go and do that? Abe was like umm, how do you respond to that!

Hate to play devil's advocate here, but although the ad may have been in bad taste, I can see some humor in it. Derek and I often joke about how we get on each other's nerves, for example, but that doesn't mean we love each other any less, nor does it cheapen our marriage.

Now try to read the ad another way: Maybe they meant: You may pay for the rest of the wedding for ever, just not the ring. People spend outrageous sums of money on weddings these days!
