I Can Do It!

Yesterday I ran 13 miles. And it was fun! Really!

I concentrated on keeping a comfortable pace and taking short strides. I stopped for water at a public fountain on miles 5 and 7. It was one of the most enjoyable runs I have ever taken, and I was actually never tempted to take a break or walk. I ran for 2 hours and 18 minutes straight, which puts me at about 10:30 miles.

That was my last long run until the half-marathon in two weeks, although I'm really tempted to do a 10-miler next weekend since this one felt so good. I was pretty stiff and sore last night, but today already I just feel the way you're supposed to after a hard workout.

My race in two weeks will be more difficult because it will be on dirt and gravel trails instead of paths. I've been training on some good hills, but the course is described as "aggressively hilly" so we'll see how they compare. At least I'll have adrenaline and people cheering in my favor!
