The girls were thrilled to play pretend when Isaac carried in the extra seat from the van so we could pack for camping. No car seats!
Elizabeth still loves to find creative places to read and write. She read about someone who memorized the book of Philippians and was very impressed, telling me, "He memorized the whole book of the Philistines!"
Elizabeth first experienced bike-riding success coasting down the little hill at our neighborhood playground (over and over and over again). Then she moved on to up and down the block (over and over and over again). I'm so happy that she's finally ready for bike paths and actually going somewhere! Note: we have replaced this helmet with a quality one, so don't worry!
Amelie is pretty jealous of Elizabeth's bike. Her feet don't reach the pedals of our trike, so she can't really practice with her big sister. This picture is of me holding Amelie and watching Elizabeth coast off down the block. Amelie is pointing desperately to herself and saying "Amelie bike. Amelie bike."
When we're not outside, we've been reading and storing up the energy to get back outside! Sometimes we do both at the same time!
Elizabeth said, "I'm developing a new habit of always reading in the rocking chair." (Actually, she'll read anywhere, even in the cart at Target.) She still likes me to choose her books for her. Whenever I go to the library, I ask her what kind of books she wants. One time, she answered thoughtfully, "I'm really into nonfiction right now. Oh, and fiction, too!" That about covers it! She also loves poetry books, biographies, Boxcar Children, and Cam Jansen mysteries.
Surprisingly for her busy personality, Amelie enjoys playing with her baby dolls more than Elizabeth ever did. Here's a picture of Amelie reading to one of her babies. It didn't last long, so I had to snap the picture fast!
Yesterday morning, Elizabeth asked me if I was still alive when the United States was still a part of England. You have to have a big ego to be a parent!
Later, she asked if there is any make-believe in the newspaper. That's kind of a hard question, because I don't want her to take our slanted media as truth, but most of it is "non-fiction."
After a bike crash, she protested, "I was trying to stop! I just forgot to use my brakes!"
Okay, that's it for now. If you're still reading this, I'm very impressed!
